Dive into the fascinating world of magnets!

Magnetism has been known to man since as early as antiquity. The name has its origin in the region of Magnesia in Greece, where the first “magnetic stone” was found. Only since the 19th century and after numerous research activities did mankind amass comprehensive knowledge of the magnet.

Classification of magnets

Magnets are divided into so-called grades. In the case of neodymium and ferrite magnets, these always consist of letters and numbers. The letter gives information about the temperature stability, the number about the magnetic power. So, a neodymium magnet with the classification N45 can be used at max. 80 °C until it loses its magnetic force. The adhesive force here, explained with the example of a rod magnet with a 1 cm diameter, is a whole 5 kilograms.

Types of magnets

Magnets can be differentiated into four types according to their adhesive force, price and quality:
  • Neodymium magnets
  • Ferrite magnets
  • flexible magnets
  • Samarium-cobalt magnets
You will find a wide range of different magnets at favourable conditions in our magnet shop: Magnets made of neodymium, magnets made of ferrite and flexible magnets. Do you want to learn more about magnets? More fascinating information about the world of magnets awaits you in our magnet shop!
